13～14世紀のイタリアの詩人ダンテの『神曲』に、フィレンツェの有力者ロレンツォ・デ・メディチの依頼でボッティチェリが挿絵を描いたもの。羊皮紙の表側に詩編を、裏側に挿し絵を描いているが、その多くは色づけされておらず未完のままとなっている。

The artist Sandro Botticelli created these illustrations of the 13th-14th century Italian poet Dante’s The Divine Comedy at the request of Lorenzo de’Medici, de facto ruler of Florence. The illustrations are drawn on the back of the parchment pages on which Dante’s text has been written. Most are not in color and remain unfinished.
